For real - what do window treatments cost? How much do people really spend on them on their home? My mom said ten grand for your whole house. Amazing... the next home I own, I am definitely going to count the windows before I buy.
I had a JC Penney decorator come out yesterday. She's free - comes to your house and helps you pick out custom window treatments. I want to do 3 rooms, my dining room, living room, and master bedroom. They are running a 50% + 15% off fabric deal right now and I told her I wanted simple drapes that are full-length that goes with the decor. They measure, install, pick hardware, and drapes - the whole deal.
So, what's the quote??? $800 for the dining room, $1,000 for the living room, and $1,200 for the bedroom. I was kinda shocked, but not really. People have set me up to believe that that's actually a good deal. In my mind, my $100 window skimpy red window scarves that I took down are looking pretty good again. Who knows. When she broke down the price, then I started to realize that a lot of the cost was hardware. When I said I think I'm out of my budget, then she said you can buy ready-made hardware in the store, and they can still install for you...
I'll keep you posted - I think I'm going to end up doing this on my own - spending way more hours and it not looking as nice, but at least I've gotten the professional's opinion.
